After months of anticipation, rumors, and speculation, Nintendo has finally announced a new piece of hardware coming to its lineup in 2025. It's not the successor to the Switch, however: It's Alarmo, a Nintendo-themed alarm clock that uses familiar music and sounds to help you start your day.

Alarmo includes motion-sensing technology, which will allow users to snooze or turn off the alarm without physically touching it. The device will also keep a record of how often the user moves around during sleep, while also offering wake-up alarms in Steady and Gentle modes--Steady makes the alarm increasingly louder, while Gentle keeps it at one set volume.

Alarmo also includes scenes from five Nintendo Switch games--Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, Pikmin 4, Splatoon 3, and Ring Fit Adventure. Users who connect their Nintendo Online accounts to the device will be able to download scenes from two additional games: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

A FAQ page on Nintendo's support site calls Alarmo a "standalone device," and specifically says that it will "not interact with other devices," with the Switch and its successor specifically named as examples. The FAQ does mention that Alarmo will work with any bed from twin-size to king-size, and that Alarmo is "not a limited-time or limited-edition product."

Nintendo Alarmo is now available for preorder on the official Nintendo online store for $100, but it is currently only available for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. It is scheduled to begin shipping in early 2025.
